OUR CONCRETE ACTIONS

The main focus of our approach is based on mastering our activities through various actions. We involve all hotel stakeholders in our approach.

  • Internally, through a communication, awareness, and training plan.
  • Externally, through the sharing of information and the practice of joint actions.

We are implementing a waste management and reduction system by focusing on:

  • Repurposing certain products
  • Practicing recycling
  • Implementing internal action plans to reduce waste and packaging materials.

We contribute to preserving our water and energy resources by:

  • Practicing eco-responsible habits
  • Implementing physical measures (motion sensor outdoor lighting & solar panels)

We monitor our monthly consumption to control our resource usage. This tracking allows us to assess progress towards our goals of reducing consumption.

  • Limiting the use of chemical products & using environmentally responsible cleaning products
  • Raising awareness and involving
  • all stakeholders in our approach
  • Controlling and reducing our energy consumption & generating renewable energy on-site
  • Monitoring our waste production and implementing measures to prevent waste
  • Controlling and reducing our water consumption through our equipment and actions

It identifies environmentally friendly products, covering various aspects such as manufacturing, use, and recycling, promoting sustainable consumption.

What is the difference between Ecolabel and Ecocert ?

The main difference between Ecolabel and Ecocert lies in their

requirements, with Ecolabel being generally less strict regarding

biological substances like GMOs, synthetic fragrances, and dyes.

How to obtain the Ecolabel ?

To obtain the European Ecolabel, the manufacturer, importer, service provider, wholesaler, or retailer must submit an application that complies with the established environmental criteria. This process ensures that the products or services meet strict ecological standards, providing official recognition of their reduced environmental impact.

ECOLABEL : A GUARANTEE OF ECOLOGICAL QUALITY FOR OUR HOTEL LE BATTANT DES LAMES AND OTHER TOURIST ACCOMMODATIONS

The ecolabel has become an essential criterion for our establishment. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact and meeting the expectations of consumers seeking sustainable tourism. But what is the ecolabel, and how does it stand out, particularly in the hospitality and tourist accommodation sector?

FIRST OF ALL, WHAT IS THE ECOLABEL ?

The ecolabel is a recognized environmental certification awarded to products or services that meet strict criteria for environmental preservation. It guarantees that the certified establishment or product follows sustainable and eco-friendly practices while maintaining a high quality for users. This label is awarded after a rigorous audit conducted by an independent organization.

The Goals of the Ecolabel in the Tourism Sector

In the tourism sector, the ecolabel aims to encourage hotels and accommodations to adopt sustainable practices. It motivates establishments to reduce their energy consumption, improve waste management, and promote the use of environmentally friendly products. Obtaining this label not only reduces the ecological or carbon footprint but also enhances the establishment’s image among customers who are environmentally conscious.

WHY CHOOSE AN ECOLABEL-CERTIFIED ESTABLISHMENT ?

Choosing a hotel or tourist accommodation certified by an ecolabel, like Le Battant des Lames, offers several advantages:

– Guarantee of Ecological Quality: Ecolabel-certified establishments commit to upholding high standards of sustainability.

They prioritize protecting natural resources, promoting eco-friendly practices, and supporting local businesses and short supply chains.

– Better Resource Management: Reducing waste, conserving water, and moderating energy consumption are common practices in these places.

THE EUROPEAN ECOLABEL : A BENCHMARK CERTIFICATION

The European Ecolabel for tourist accommodations is a certification awarded to establishments that meet strict environmental criteria. This ecolabel is recognized across all European Union countries, providing a uniform standard on an international scale.

CERTIFICATION CRITERIA FOR TOURIST ACCOMMODATIONS

To obtain the European Ecolabel, a hotel or accommodation must meet several conditions:

– Water Consumption Reduction: Use of devices that allow for more efficient water use (for example, flow reducers in showers and faucets).

– Energy Efficiency: Use of high-performance energy-efficient equipment, such as low-energy light bulbs or eco-friendly heating systems.

– Waste Management: Sorting waste and encouraging guests to adopt eco-friendly practices.

– Use of Eco-labeled Products: For cleaning, bedding, or even cosmetics provided in rooms.

EUROPEAN ECOLABEL FOR TOURIST ACCOMMODATIONS : WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS FOR GUESTS ?

For guests, choosing a European Ecolabel-certified accommodation means enjoying a pleasant and environmentally friendly stay. Additionally, these establishments often incorporate educational initiatives, raising awareness among their guests about eco-friendly practices to adopt during their stay.

ECOLABEL-CERTIFIED HOTELS : A SUSTAINABLE COMMITMENT
ECOLABEL HOTEL : A GUARANTEE OF ECO-RESPONSIBILITY

In the hospitality industry, obtaining the ecolabel allows a hotel to stand out to a clientele that is increasingly mindful of environmental practices. An ecolabel-certified hotel commits to reducing its ecological impact at every level of its operations.

EXAMPLE OF BEST PRACTICES IN ECOLABEL-CERTIFIED HOTELS

Here are some common practices in ecolabel-certified hotels:

  • Reducing energy consumption: For example, rooms are equipped with systems that limit electricity use when guests are absent.
  • Use of local and organic products: Many ecolabel-certified hotels source locally for their restaurants, prioritizing products from organic farming.
  • Promotion of sustainable mobility: These establishments often provide bicycles or encourage the use of public transportation.
ECOLABEL AND MARKETING : AN ASSET TO ATTRACT RESPONSIBLE TRAVELERS

Today, many travelers seek establishments committed to sustainable practices. Displaying an ecolabel has therefore become a powerful marketing tool. Hotels and accommodations with this type of certification not only enhance their image but also attract a loyal clientele eager to minimize their ecological footprint while enjoying quality services.

THE FUTURE OF THE ECOLABEL IN THE TOURISM SECTOR

The ecolabel is rapidly expanding in the tourism sector, particularly in Europe. With growing awareness of environmental issues, more and more establishments are seeking this certification to meet travelers’ expectations while reducing their environmental impact. Additionally, governments and international organizations are encouraging this approach by streamlining accreditation processes and promoting sustainable tourism.

HOW CAN A HOTEL OBTAIN THE ECOLABEL ?

Obtaining the European Ecolabel requires completing a comprehensive application and going through several steps, including an independent audit. This process assesses the establishment’s compliance with the required environmental criteria. Once the certification is obtained, the hotel must uphold its commitments or risk losing the ecolabel.

NEW TRENDS IN ECOLABEL-CERTIFIED ACCOMMODATIONS

One recent trend is the integration of positive energy buildings, where establishments produce more energy than they consume through solar panels or wind turbines. Such initiatives demonstrate the commitment of accommodations to go beyond the basic ecolabel criteria by exploring new forms of sustainability.

The ecolabel, especially the European Ecolabel, is a significant asset for hotels and tourist accommodations. It assures travelers of an environmentally friendly stay while maintaining high quality standards. In a world where ecological awareness is rapidly growing, it is essential for tourism industry players to adapt to these new demands. Don’t wait to choose an ecolabel-certified accommodation for your next trips and contribute to more responsible tourism.
